Silverdale Beach

THERE are 15 beaches in Lancashire – but Silverdale is arguably the best of the bunch.

This hidden gem, which is dog-friendly, is a great choice for a family day out.

Why should you visit Silverdale Beach?

Silverdale beach is located in a small village within Morecambe Bay and the Arnside and Silverdale AONB.

Despite its natural beauty, this idyllic spot does not get as busy as some of the other beaches in the area.

It’s a great choice for a family day out or if you just fancy some peace and quiet while soaking up the sun.

But don’t panic if you’re not a sun worshipper, there’s plenty more to do here instead of topping up your tan.

Silverdale beach has incredible rockpools to explore when the tide goes out

When the tide goes out, you can explore the rockpools or the small rocky cliffs and caves.

Alternatively, you could take a stroll along the limestone paths or through the nearby woodland.

Dogs are allowed on this beach all-year round so you can bring your four-legged friend along with you for a day out.

Can you swim at Silverdale Beach?

Like most beaches in the UK, you are able to swim at Silverdale but you should approach with caution.

At this Lancashire hotspot, there are a few dangerous areas due to the fast tides and sinking sand.

It is strongly advised that you do not leave your children unattended in the sea or in the mud.

Can you park at Silverdale beach?

We know there’s nothing worse than pulling up to the beach and there’s nowhere to park.

Nobody wants a trek from the car to the beach with all of your gear for the day.

But fear not, Silverdale has parking nearby and it costs just £2 for the day.

Are there facilities nearby?

Everybody loves the idea of having a picnic on the beach – but don’t panic if you’ve forgot to pack your sarnies.

In the nearby village of Silverdale, there is a cafe and a variety of small shops to buy goodies from.

If you are planning on a longer trip, you could book yourself into the family-run Silverdale Hotel
