Are dogs allowed on Tenby’s beaches?

TENBY graces the south of Wales with five different beaches that spans three miles around the coastline.

With glistening sand, crisp blue waters and even a castle in the middle, Pembrokeshire town is the perfect place to take your family – but can dogs visit too?

Are dogs allowed on Tenby’s beaches?

Tenby’s shoreline is broken up by five beaches – Penally, South, Castle, Harbour and North – with large parts of the coast including restrictions for the dogs.

Castle and North beaches both have a ban on canines setting foot on the sand from May 1 to September 30.

The other coastal hotspots only ask that dogs remain on leads during those dates.

Due to the nature of the beaches all being linked to each other, it is advised that you look out for signs notifying you to the boundaries and where your beloved pooch is restricted from entering.

Can I be fined for taking my dog onto Tenby beaches?

It is unclear if you will be fined for taking your dog onto the beaches at Tenby, with no online record of a Public Spaces Protection Order.

PSPOs are in place at many other beaches around the UK and detail the exact parameters of restrictions as well as the consequences.

At those seaside hubs with a PSPO, they often come with a Fixed Penalty Notice of up to £100, while you could land yourself a maximum fine of £1,000 should the case go to court.

It is advised that you make sure to respect the rules to avoid any potential consequence.
