Turks & Caicos named the best beach Destination in the Caribbean and the Americas at The 2023 World Travel Awards as Amanyara collect gong

Turks & Caicos Islands have been crowned the best beach destination in the Caribbean and the Americas for an incredible 12th year in a row at the award ceremony in Saint Lucia.

They were joined in the awards by the Amanyara hotel from the Wheeland Settlement, which secured another best Beach Resort gong after also winning in 2022.

The victories mean they will now head to the World Travel Awards 2023 Grand Final, where they will be pitted against other beach destinations and resorts from around the globe.

Turks & Caicos’ dominance continues in the event, having not failed to pick up the Leading Beach Destination gong since Jamaica’s win in 2011.

In the first three years of their winning run, Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales collected the award with the beautiful white sandy coast continuing to be a must-visit for seaside lovers.

Matched with its turquoise blue waters and stunning views, it is no surprise as to why millions visited the Caribbean islands every year.

Turks & Caicos will now look to make it win number nine at the World Travel Awards later this year for either the Leading Beach Destination or Best Beach categories – however, they have not picked up the global title since 2014.

The archipelago has been beaten by the Philippines, the Algarve in Portugal and the Maldives in recent years.

Meanwhile, the Amanyara hotel is one of the most exclusive beach resorts around and loved a host of celebrities including Kim Kardashian, the Beckhams, Will Smith and LeBron James.

It is the fifth time that the Aman Resorts-owned hotel has been named the best in the Caribbean, beating Dominican Republic’s Amanera that won in 2021 and 2020.

Amanyara will now look to go one step further and take the global crown, after losing out to Andilana Beach Resort from Madagascar at last year’s ceremony.

The World Travel Awards are held every year with the Caribbean and the Americas category the first of five ceremonies to take place before the Grand Final Gala at the end of 2023.

The winner from Asia and Oceania will be announced on September 6 in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, before Europe’s best beach is named in Batumi, Georgia on September 29.

Dubai will then crown the world’s top coastal hotspot in the Middle East and the champion from the Africa and Indian Ocean category on October 15, with the winners all going to the Grand Final.

The best Beach Destination and best Beach Resort are just two of 54 awards that are dished out at each ceremony, with the World Travel Awards also selecting champions for the leading airline, water park and cruise port among others.
